Balenciaga's "Dad" Sneakers

My fashion opinion – one that nobody actually asked for.

Let's set the scene:

The year is 2017 and Balenciaga releases the Triple S sneaker. People👏 lose👏 their👏 shit👏

Are the shoes a joke? Are they thee fashion piece to have in 2017? But wait they're $800? Nobody knows what to make of them and maybe that's the point.

People my age have this weird obsession with all things dad-related, so of course Balenciaga took it one step further, as they tend to do, and made the most dad-tastic shoe to ever hit the runway. It's as if a winter boot swallowed a running shoe and the result is these sneakers. Just look at those layers of squishy material making up the sole.

The new "Triple S" sneakers are a chunky, bulky, overdone take on a dad sneaker and right now, that makes them the hottest ones in the game.

I'll confess, I'm a big fan. These sneakers are aggressive, but in a trendy and unapologetic way. They aren't shoes you buy just because everyone else is; they are shoes you absolutely must like in order to justify the price tag. I haven't seen them in the wild much, but when I do I can't help but open-mouth stare at the person's feet as they strut (clunk?) down the street.
